The power distribution system is an important link between power generation, transmissionsystem and the terminal users. The operation of distribution system directly affects the qualityof electric energy and service. The users demand its power supply with higher quality andreliability as the rapid development of society and economy. Blackout might causeincalculable losses. The electric power enterprises should improve the technology ofmanagement and operation in the face of challenges and pressures.The planning of distribution automation system is studies in thesis combining the practice ofShantou distribution networks. The reliability evaluation method and optimal allocation ofsectionalizing switches are researched and introduced in detail. The failure mode and effectsanalysis (FMEA) method is improved by division to reduce calculation burden. The switches,breakers and fuses are topology dividing point of distribution networks. The allocation ofsectionalizing switches is modeled as optimization problem aim for best comprehensiveeconomic cost. The improved genetic algorithm is employed to solve it and gets optimalsolution in simulation networks. The application in Shantou distribution automation planningshows the theoretical significance and practical value of the proposed method.
