| The braking performance is one of the important factors affecting vehicle safety. In order to further enhance the safety coefficient of vehicles, improve vehicle safety on poor road conditions, enhance driving performance and reduce traffic accidents, automobile manufacturers attach great importance to the brake system. However, from the point of view of the industry’s current production status, R&D and brake performance testing of the domestic brand vehicles in China have been in a backward state, especially when the export situation is not optimistic as the domestic brands fail to pass the international certification because of safety, and then cannot enter such high-end markets as the Europe and the United State. This article intents to analyze the cold bench testing data from a well-known international automobile manufacturer, summarize the braking system technology and detection technology gaps by comparing that well-known international automobile manufacturer with domestic manufacturers, and then propose the ways to promote the braking system development of China’s domestic automobile manufacturers, improve China’s domestic vehicle safety performance, and enhance the international competitiveness of China’s domestic brands.This article firstly describes the basic principles of the brake system, including the brake system function and the mechanical analysis during braking, then discusses the three indicators of the braking performance evaluation-the efficiency, the constancy and directional stability during braking, and summarizes the requirements of relevant laws and regulations. Through the decomposing calculation of the braking performance test data of a certain luxury brand, the article concludes that the indicators such as the braking rate, front and rear axle braking rate, brake balance rate, braking coordination time, and the vehicle blocking rate all exceed the national standard, and then analyzes the test methods and the extent to which the data are in accordance with the national standard. The article has also carried out focused analysis of other test items, and introduces the composition and the system functions of domestically developed DSC (dynamic stability control). Combined with the author’s working experience, this article analyzes the braking performance testing and manufacturing problems of China’s current domestic automobile manufacturers, and presents advice to strengthen basic theoretical construction, develop high-tech talent, and improve the standard of the brake system and safety performance. |
