Due to the development of economy, the distribution network at6-35kV is developingrapidly. Citizens’ requirement of electrical power makes more and more electrical cable usedin the system. Therefore, when a single phase grounding appears, the current is usually greatthan10A, sometimes above50A.The distribution network in China is very large, whichbears the responsibility of distributing power to the costumers. And it means that to executethe system safely is very important. Based on many years’ experience, the department ofelectricity fixes that in the10.5kV system when grounding current exceeds30A, there mustbe an arc suppression coil between the neutral point and earth.Distribution systems grounding via arc-suppression coil has great meaning to harness powerquality, and improve the reliability of power supply. The equipment can trade andcompensate the capacitive current when system works normally, and provide compensationcurrents when there is a malfunction.This paper focuses on the analysis of10kV neutral ungrounded system characteristics,discussing the damage of capacitive current when exceeding the standard, and then analysisthe existing problems of traditional arc suppression coil grounding system. In the end, theapplication principle of automatic tracking compensation arc suppression device in powerdistribution system is provided for reference.
