As the only source of power on EV, power cell is an important index of the EVperformance. The battery package is used to protect the cells from being damaged. Sothe structure performance of battery pack is very important. This paper, base on avirtual experiment model to analyse the dynamic characteristics and fatigue propertyof an EV battery pack. And the improving suggestion is also provided.This paper combines the advanced computer technology with advanced testmethod. Analyse the dynamic characteristics and fatigue property with virtual testmethod. This technology extension would improve the design quality, Shorten thedevelopment cycle, reduce the design cost, and can also promote the domesticenterprise independent development level.First, this paper establishs the finite element model of the battery pack. Thepackage structure is modeled using shell elements, power cells structure is modeledby using3D solid elements, solder joint simulation using the ACM unit.The modal analysis and fixed frequency vibration analysis are used to evaluatedit’s dynamic characteristics. Then, this paper finds the places which don’t demand themeet. The analysis offer theory and reference value for the following design of thebattery pack.The battery package fatigue life is analysed by the combination of S-N curve andPalmgren-Miner theory. Then, this paper finds the places which don’t meet thedemand. The fatigue analysis offer theory and reference value for the followingdesign of the battery pack.Because the analysis results don’t meet the demand, so it’s necessary to makestructure design on the battery package. Some new materials are selected, and thestructural weaknesses are also improved. Then make analysis to the modified modelagain. The following analysis results indicate that the improved method is feasibleand effective.
