With the fast development of national economic, more and more complex steel structures appear, so many different kinds of elements need to be welded, that quality can’t be controlled. For this reason, more and more projects adopt the integral hoisting method, which can reduce the construction work and the break point, control the component quality better, shorten the crane operation lines and the construction period. But for the variety of elements is too much, requirement to workers and scheduling is much higher. Besides, it’s very important to choose the position where is hoist point, especially for large structures, long span structures and so on. As the building is too complex, some finite element calculation software should be used to get the stress distribution during construction. When the calculation is done, the result is too abstract to understand, so the process animation is needed to make it visual. Hoisting calculation and process animation compose construction simulation technology, which is connected the traditional construction technology and digital technology.In this paper, complex irregular pipe truss and concrete core tube-steel frame structure are taken as examples. Contrast from the equipment choice, hoist point arrangement, the structure calculation, construction management and so on. The animation makes the process more visual. With combining the virtual reality technology and digital simulation technology, construction technology turns to3D from2D. In these days, when economy develops rapidly, the structure form becoms more diverse and construction method becomes much more complex, this technology is expected by most engineers.
