Study On The Modeling System Of Conflict Analysis From The Perspective Of Power

Construction projects constantly refer to many interest subjects,however, different subjects have a variety of interest demands, which leads to various construction conflicts.Those conflicts usually result in delay of projects, social relationship broken up, and do harms to social harmony. A lot of research shows that meta-game theory and conflict analysis theory, which are based on game theory, are effective when we deal with construction conflicts. Nevertheless, the power disparities of subjects are either not considered or considered hazily. It results in the equilibrium of models are weak to explain the reality. Moreover, the equilibrium may not be accepted by the powerful in actual conflicts. Considering the influences of power exerting to conflict subjects, the paper attempts to modify traditional meta-game theory as well as conflict analysis theory, and establish a system of conflict analysis from the perspective of power.The research first clarifies and then analyzes the power and its attributes in construction conflicts. Second, according to the definitions and the attributes of power, we distinguish eight types of power.Together with analysis of three kinds of cost of power and the risk preferences of subjects,we construct a power-judging model to show how the subjects judge the value of power between each other. Besides, based on social psychology research, the paper analyzes three types of effects of power exercising upon the psychology and the action of subjects in actual construction conflicts.In addition, from the analysis of power-judging model, the paper segments the conflicts into several periods; in each period, the characters of conflict stakeholders and non-stakeholders are illustrated, and the privies, supporters and intervenes are differentiated.The players in the model of conflict analysis are distinguished and defined by comparing the features between the three kinds of stakeholders and the players, according to which the identify criterion are set; the strategies of players are set according to the analysis of the interests and power status of different players in the conflicts; we explore the interrelationship between the strategies of each players and find out which strategy portfolios are impossible. At the same time, considering the effects of power, the rules are modified to set the feasible outcome.According to the utility sequence of feasible outcomes, each player’s pure utility preference is identified.Rules of preference amending are set based on the effects of power,and the preference sequence of players from the perspective of power are concluded.Based on the factors above, we make the analysis of stability and accomplish the modeling of conflict analysis from the perspective of power subsequently.At last, the validity of the model is verified with examples of actual demolition conflicts.
