The refractive index of the optical glass or other transparent mediums is an important parameter to characterize the optical properties of the medium. How to measure the refractive index of the medium accurately and quickly has become a very significant part of the production of the optical glass. For this reason, the study of the V-prism photoelectric refractometer has a considerable and practical significance.Based on the evaluation of measurement of index of refraction and the measurement methods from various countries, this dissertation determined and concluded the measurement theory of V-prism which examined by time with practical examinations.Finally, precision analysis of the overall program and the experimental results have been given.Data indicated that the accuracy of the instrument can reach10"6middleweight,and have a good stability. All the technical requirements have been achieved.
