As an important way low-carbon transportation, electric vehicle (EV) has drawn great attention of institutions from home and abroad, which is characterized by high efficiency, low pollution and other advantages. The main power of EV is rechargeable batteries, which the energy supply is charge pile. Thought small amount of EV charging does not give much impact on the power grid. However, large-scale EV access to grid will bring challenge to normal operation and control, it’s essential to predict the charging load and regulate the strategies to respond this problem. Therefore, this paper gives an in-depth research on how to establish the charging load model of EV and to eliminate the problem of peak-valley difference caused by the charging load. Through analyzing the EV charging model, programming simulation, the future charging load curve was got, a concentrated charging strategy based on time-of-use power price was presented, a mathematical model of optical control was established, and uses concrete cases to verify the feasibility of the model. The main contents is as follows:The paper summarize the relevant knowledge of EV charging, compares performance and development trend of three kinds of rechargeable batteries, which have been widely used in the market. In the EV charging load modeling, need fully consider the effect of charging power, initial charge capacity, initial charging time and the scale of development of EV, followed by instructions on the above factors, laying the groundwork for the load modeling. The paper focus on analyzing charging characteristics of different types EV, which includes the charging time, initial charge capacity and initial charging time, predicting the quantity of different EV types in the future. It uses the Monte Carlo simulation method to predict the EV charging load curve, analyzes the EV charging load impact on the power grid.Based on the time-of-use price of demand side management (DSM) notion, a mathematical model of maximum valley value with objective function was established. The paper also puts forward the concentrated charging strategy by letting the power supply company engaging in the scheduling, combined with the EV agreement. At last, the paper discusses the achievement of concentrated charging strategy in terms of decreasing the peak-valley load and increasing the load rate.
