With the popularization of gear form grinding machine, a theoretical research of the structure of new tooth profile for gear grinding is valuable. This paper presents a novel gear of which tooth profile is multi-arc,named tangent quadruple-arc gear. This design can solve the problem of gear pitting formed by contacting of non-working surface of tangent double-arc gear. Its structure is simple, to a certain extent, saves the manufacturing time cost and the economic cost. At the same time, Without cusp.the design tangent quadruple circular-arc gear is more suitable for CNC gear form grinding tool.This paper puts forward a geometric design of tangent quadruple circular-arc gear, that the transition profile of tangent double-arc gear tooth is transited by two tangent arc. The gap of the non-working surface of new gear tooth is larger than the tangent double-arc gear tooth’s.And there is one more meshing point than a double-arc gear tooth profile. According to this scheme, basic rack tooth of tangent quadruple circular-arc gear profile has been designed, the selection principle and the calculation method of basic parameters of the tangent quadruple circular-arc gear profile is given.the way to calculate the gap of the non-working surface of tangent double-arc gear or of tangent quadruple circular-arc gear and the criterion whether non-working surface contacts have been proposed and proven.This paper demonstrates the ratio of transmission between two tangent quadruple-arc gears is constant. and gives the conditions making tangent quadruple circular-arc gears Continuously drive.To derive the conditions for tooth conjugate contact. Separability of center of tangent quadruple-arc gear has been proven. To derive the way to calculate Multi-point mesh factor and Multi-pairs tooth mesh factor.Give the choice of tooth width a reasonable theoretical basis,And analysis the distribution of contact point.
