With the development of science and technology, society need higher innovation ability. Butmany enterprises especially small and medium enterprises exist some problems like a longdevelopment cycle and the weak innovation ability in new products development because ofsufficient funds and lack of technology in our country. So we are badly in need of a method ofrapid development that can solve the problems.A rapid development system about mechanical components is introduced. The system adoptobject oriented programming language. The system friendly interface which is adopt VB is veryeasy and fast to operate.It is suitable for technician who work in small and medium enterprises.wecan transfer commercial software seamless to realize,secondary development, finite element methodand so on. The system realize a new product from reverse engineering to rapid prototyping.Parametric Design is introduced.Solid Edge secondary development with VB. In order to realizeparameter,we can control Solid Edge inside or outside of Solid Edge based on ActiveX Automation.After three-dimensional modeling of wheel hub is created, we can change model flexibly byparametric design directly.The paper take wheel hub design to elaborated reverse engineering,secondary development,finite element method. We introduce new product development process in the paper.The reverse engineering is introduced. In order to get point cloud data, this thesis scans thedrive axle housing with use of ATOS reverse equipment. Then imports those data, apply Imagewareto do the work such as feature extraction as well as surface reconstruction. After that, constructs3Dsolid model of the drive axle housing.We do analysis on wheel hub by finite element method. Before the analysis of wheel hub withANSYS Workbench, we need to analyze the specific circumstances of the role of wheel hub bearing,we usually consider wheel vertical load, and then make relevant constraint and load on wheel, thestress and the strain drawing of the wheel hub are shown. Also,the paper clear about the technicalsupport for new product development.The advantage of the system in the process of product development can solve the problemswhich the enterprises are facing the market is promising.
