Currently, operation status of some of China’s urban rail transit station is worrisome, even when the flow of passenger traffic does not meet the design one, passenger service facilities still function poor, phenomena such as channel cramped, purchasing tickets crowded, and automatic gate inadequate have become normalized. These symptoms seriously affect the efficiency of the station system, the main reasons is inadequate and uncomprehensive grasp the authenticity, randomness and distribution of passenger flow when design and optimize the allocation the passenger service facilities in metro station, thus resulting the imbalance between supply of passenger service facilities and demand of the arriving passengers, and also reducing the efficiency and level of service of the station system. Traditional method of design and configuration the passenger service facilities relies on the standards and macro passenger flow prediction so it is not able to solve the current problem fundamentally. What is the future development trend is how to find out a best distribution to describe the passenger arrival law of service facilities on the basis of fully considering the randomness and variability of passenger arriving, and implementation the mutual matching of service facilities and the arriving passenger flow. Therefore, this paper conducted research on distribution law and theory application of passenger arrival of different types of the passenger service facilities in station. Based on extensive field survey data, the conclusion that the best fitting form to describe passenger arrival interval is the PH distribution is obtained. Also, parameters of the PH model and distribution are effectively reduced to make up for the restriction on its application caused by the existing variety of parameters in the model to realize the theory application of the PH distribution in the field of passenger service facilities’planning and design, optimal allocation, simulation and standard setting. Specifically, this paper mainly studied the following aspects:(1) Analyzed the classification of facilities in urban rail transit station in detail, and then carries on in-depth discussion on passenger service facilities planning and design theory and its own characteristics as well. Thus, laying foundation for follow-up conclusion of passenger flow fitting and parameter calibration of the model. (2) According to traffic flow theory, mathematical statistics as well as application programming and on the basis of traffic survey data, this paper selects PH and other8probability distributions to describe the law of passenger arrival. And through taking the goodness of fit as reference, it obtained the conclusion that PH distribution is the best fitting form.(3) In order to implement the application of PH distribution and the model, parameters of the model are effectively simplified, and then compared the simplified distribution with the former one to verify the accuracy and superiority of the PH distribution.(4) Taking the forward peak rush hour passenger flow and super peak coefficient as known planning condition, this paper implemented the theory application of this PH model in the field of planning and design, optimal allocation and simulation of the service facilities such as channel, gate and ticket vending machine.
