Conventional railway circuits are interfered by many external factors, restricting the development of China’s railway undertakings, especially after the sixth large-scale speed up of trains. After the speed up, requirements of railway transport efficiency and equipment safety highly increase. Axle counting system, as an alternative to the track circuit, determines the occupied/clear condition through wheel sets’collecting. The system is used to solve common problems such as white/red band in station, interval red band and bad shunt circuit of rails. Also, it can be used in semi-automatic block section to achieving inter-station automatic blocking and improving traffic efficiency. Axle monitoring system, as the monitoring part of the axle countering system, can monitor working conditions of the axle equipment on-line, master the system application conditions, and provide effective analysis data for maintenance personnel and a visual analysis platform for fault diagnosis and troubleshooting. Thus, it increases the availability of axle counting systems. Based on the traditional axis counting system, axle counting system is a diagnosis system which combines sensor, counter, serial communication, the host unit and display together. It can monitor section state and relay status in real-time and provide reference data for repair workers which provide a visual analysis platform for diagnosis and treatment of the fault, improving the practicability of the axle counting system.The axle mapping and monitoring which are studied in this paper belong to the shaft monitoring system PC part. We can draw graphics on the display station interface and can intuitive view each track section state and relay status in the interface. The traditional axis counting system can not directly observe section state, and observe the relay status must in the mechanical room.In this paper, followed the ideas and methods of object-oriented software engineering, based on visualization software platform MFC, an axle mapping and monitoring simulation system was designed, including the sensor module design, relay module design, axle display module design, rule module design and section module design. Simultaneously, using virtual serial ports debugging tools, axle signals of a train operating on the road are produced, sensor module simulates capturing these signals, axle display module displaies the signals of wheel sets according to the set rules, resulting in the changes of the status of relay module, realizing the simulation of on-line monitoring of train occupancy/clearing situation. To facilitate the configuration of the system, the rule module and configuration section are saved into text format for easy viewing and modifying by the designers.
