Fuel pump is the key components of automobile fuel supply system and EFI (electronic fuel injection system) is the important component in the fuel pump. The performance of the fuel pump influence on the performance of the engine start, running state, emission, etc. Under the increasing need of energy preserving, environmental protection, flexible car controlling, comfort driving experience and the safety, the electric fuel pump, as an important part of the engine, has a big impact on the performance of the engine. The noise of fuel pump is one of the main factors which make ride experience bad. This noise is related to the structure of the fuel pump. This paper is pointed to solve these problems and gives significant contribution to the design of the structure of automobile fuel pump.By using the PULSE Labshop software from Denmark B&K and the FLUENT software. This paper conducted several researches on the impellers in different fuel pumps. The main researches are listed as follows:(1) Pump noise testing. The noise is recorded with the PULSE Labshop software in a semi anechoic room which is a simulation of real working condition. And identify the factors that cause fuel pump noise complaint issues by geometric parameters measurement;(2) Theory research on the mechanism of noise brought by the impeller; Identified impeller structure has close ties with the rotation noise and vortex noise.(3) Optimizing the model. A3D model of pump impellers is built for flow field simulation and numerical analysis in FLUENT software to research on the distribution of flow field and sound pressure level with the parameters including different number of pump impellers (9,18,47,54) and different angles (90°,45°,30°) between the impeller and the axis;(4) Analysis of numerical simulation results; By analyzing of numerical simulation results, the paper made a conclusion that the design of reasonable fuel pump impeller should take the velocity field distribution uniformity and rotation noise level after vector synthesis both into account.
