The21st century, China’s urbanization process accelerated, increasing the scale of the city. With the rapid development of urban economy and changes of urban lifestyle, traffic congestion has become a big problem need to be solved. And functional scale-appropriate and reasonable structure of the urban expressway system and track system is one of the effective means to solve this problem. This paper focuses on urban rapid transit system loop line of expressway and railway traffic circle.Firstly this paper educes loop lines by describing the traffic location loop line which derived from traffic location theory. Then we study the significance of loop for solving urban traffic problems from the point of view of city layout and urban traffic development strategy. Now form in big cities of both planned road network and metropolitan rail network are mainly in the form of ring and launched path..This paper start with the overall analysis of the circular line of traffic function, complementary relationship between the loop and radio path, negative aspects of the loop. By analyzing four different forms of road network after ring was added, the road network of the non-linear coefficient, quickness and connectivity index of the network were compared with before, which verify the necessity of building a ring. In the third part, research on the loop of road and rail were carried out separately, as well as analysis of the differences between them. The thesis give a brief analysis of factors of loop construction, then make a definition of the adaptability of the city loop and a key research on the function and layout city of loop. Model of loop adaptability was established by extension evaluation. Finally, Chengdu as an example, three alternatives were put forward and on the basis of qualitative and quantitative analysis approach to the to the optimal solution.
