The vehicles used in the extension line of the NO.1Turkey Izmir City Light Rail Transit is one of the most important projects of urban light rail vehicles of CSR ZHUZHOU ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE CO.,LTD. which have the independent intellectual property. The biggest difficulty is to design the articulated bogie used for light rail vehicle which has the special requirements. Abroad, articulated bogies have been widely used in the high-speed railway, the urban rail transit, etc. But, in our country, the applications of articulated bogies should be blank at present. So the successful design of the articulated bogie, not only successfully completed delivery the vehicles used in the NO.l Turkey Izmir City Light Rail Transit on time, also provide a wealth of technology and talent reserves for the independent research and development of articulated bogies in our country, and it has far-reaching significance to promote the development of articulated bogie in our country.At first, the paper introduced the characteristics of the bogies used in urban rail transit in our country. Then, it made out the characteristics of the articulated bogie, and expounds the present situation and application of articulated bogie at home and abroad. The second, studied the overall scheme and basic parameters selection of the type ZLA080articulated bogie used for the Turkey Izmir City. Then, the parts of type ZLA080articulated bogie for urban rail was studied by consulting the characteristics of articulated bogies abroad on the basic of domestic urban rail vehicle bogie platform. According to the UIC615-4,UIC515-4and EN13749,static strength for the frame is analyzed by using the finite element software ANSYS. The static strength and fatigue strength of the frame are analyzed in a variety of operating conditions. Finally, the paper expounds the developed the strength test of the frame. According to the test program and test standard, the static and fatigue test was carried out on the frame.Finally, the paper concluded that the type ZLA080articulated bogie used for urban rail vehicle can meet the vehicle project technical specification of NO.1Turkey Izmir City Light Rail Transit. Frame strength in the range of material allowable strength limit, and the static strength and fatigue strength test of the frame shows that the simulation and experimental results were compared, static strength and fatigue strength meet the requirements. In the initial stage of the great construction of urban rail transit system in our country, developing type ZLA080articulated bogie for urban rail with our intellectual property rights through fully utilizing foreign successful experience and combining the actual circumstance of urban rail car development in our country provide a wealth of technology and talent reserves, has very important meaning for promote the development of technology of articulated bogie in our country. Research in this paper provides some theory for the development of the articulated bogie in our country for the future.
