Objective: To learn drunk driving, fatigue driving, driving without a safety belt,riding a motorcycle without a helmet and other unsafe driving behaviors etc and itsrelated risk factors within the residents of Jilin Province, analysis the present situationof unsafe driving behaviors and its influencing factors, to provide reasonable scientificbasis for traffic injuries prevention.Methods: Multistage stratified random sampling method was used for selecting thesample. As Changchun City,Nanguan District, Dehui City, Jilin District, Longjingcity and Ji’an city as the national diseases surveillance spots, Changchun City,Nanguan District and Fengman District of Jilin city are city monitoring points, the restof them are countryside monitoring points. A questionnaire was used to collect dataabout unsafe driving behaviors and related risk factors among residents above18years old. Chinese chronic disease and its risk factors survey questionnaire made bythe Chinese center for disease control and prevention was used and its content mainlyincluded the situation of using helmet when riding a motorcycle, the situation ofwearing a safety belt situation when driving, the situation of drunk driving, thesituation of fatigue driving and demographic information etc.Results: The results from binary logistic regression showed that in the past30daysthe rate of riding without a motorcycle helmet was90.0%, female (OR=3.089)increased the risk of riding without a motorcycle helmet, and higher education level(OR=0.736), rural area (OR=0.501) was protective factors. The rate of driving withoutseatbelt was70.2%, higher education level (OR=0.565) was a protective factor ofdriving without seatbelt. The rate of drinking driving was13.7%, the young(OR=0.586) were at lower risk of drinking driving. The rate of fatigue driving was18.2%, male drivers were more likely to driving with fatigue (OR=16.131) comparedto females. The rate of driving without license was15.8%, drivers with higher education (OR=0.473) were less likely to drive without license, the older (OR=1.486)rural area (OR=3.027) increase the risk of driving without license.Conclusion:The survey shows that the ratio of the motorcycle safety helmet of residents in Jilinprovince is very low, especially the people of lower level education. The proportion ofthe residents often drive wearing safety belt compares with the other provinces is inthe middle level, but far less than the rate of the foreign used safety belt. The drunkdriving behavior of male residents are far higher than the foreign. About1/5driverhad fatigue driving experience in the past30days, in which mostly were males. Theproportion of older residents driving without licenses is higher than any other agegroup, maybe the high age group passed the driving license exam difficulty. Therural residents with high proportion of driving without a license compared with thecity residents, The ratio of low educated people driving without a license is higherthan it of the high degree of culture people.
