In this paper, control system of PMSM based on FPGA is researched. On one hand, PMSM has the advantages of little loss, high efficiency and high performance. On the other hand, In terms of hardware, FPGA processes date in the form of pure parallel processing, so it almost doesn’t occupy CPU resources. In terms of software, FPGA has a flexible structure, short development cycle, low cost, advanced development and design tools easy to use, online real-time simulation features and so on. So research of high-performance PMSM’s vector control system on FPGA has great value and significance.Firstly, a in-depth analysis of the basic PMSM mathematical model and SVPWM algorithm is conducted. After that the simulation of PMSM control system of is conducted on MATLAB/SIMULINK. The Simulation not only obtained the corresponding simulation results but alse confirmed the control system’s basic parameters. So the simulation laid the foundation of realizing PMSM’s control system in FPGA.Secondly, the PMSM’s control system is divided into many modules by the modular design of EDA methodology. Those modules are Clarke module, Park module, inverse Park module, SVPWM system module, PI regulator module, speed measurement module and so on. Each module is not only designed by Verilog hdl/vhdl hardware description language, but alse conducted by composite and waveform analysis in Quartus II.Again, SVPWM algorithm based on the modular design is explored and researched in this paper. Sine and cosine are difficult to be calculated on FPGA, so CORDIC algorithm is used to calculate sine and cosine. The encoder interface circuit, current sampling circuit and AD conversion circuit are also ananlysised and designed in this paper.Finally, the control system of PMSM based on DE2FPGA board and motor power driver board is built in this paper. Hardware experiment is conducted and the results are analyzed. Experimental results are achieved and the correctness of the control system is tested through this experiment. Those works have important guiding significance for research on PMSM’s control system by IC in the future.
