Because of the new permanent magnetism materials research and the fast-developing of motor controlling technology, permanent magnet synchronous motor has been widely used in the field of ac drives. Motor control system change from analog component controller to fully digital controller. With the development of field programmable gate array (FPGA) devices and modern electronic design automation (EDA) technology, vector control algorithm has been able to realize in a single chip of FPGA chip, not only overcomes the zero drift, the unreliability and the scattered independent component of the analog servo system, but also has high reliability control circuit, high control precision, small volume, short development cycle, etc. After FGPA chip proven, in the form of software to realize the hardware circuit, to avoid the risk of silicon chip, achieved the combination of software requirements and hardware design. So the research of use FPGA to realize high performance permanent magnet synchronous motor control, will have important theoretical meaning and economic significance, and widely used in the field of economy, military.This paper presents the mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous motor and space vector pulse width modulation. Study the MTPA of IPMSM and present the algorithm of Variable-order Fragmented Curve-fitting.This algorithm use first-order and second-order polynomial curve to fit the relationship between torque and current. And has carried on the simulation, the amount of calculation is significantly reduce, which compare with biquadratic polynomial used in traditional way.Next, the design process of permanent magnet synchronous motor vector control used of FPGA development platform ISE. Described the speed detection, position detection, vector transformation, PI regulator, voltage space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), and other modules of digital realization method in detail. In the premise of match the design requirements, on the basis of optimized design of each module in order to reduce its possession of the chip resources. Vector transformation using CORDIC (Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer). The biggest advantage of CORDIC is using shift and add and subtract iterative arithmetic to realize rotation vector calculation, It’s especially suitable for large scale integrated circuit such as FPGA to implement.Finally, function simulation and timing verification of the various modules in system are perform, through the Modelsim simulation software. And build the hardware platform of the whole system, the performance of the servo system were tested and analyzed. The experiment results show that the system has good dynamic and static performance, and verify the validity of the algorithm.
