Research On The Relationship Between Human Beings And Village Environment

Nowadays, how to create a harmonious and habitable living environment is a problemin the construction industry we have been facing for long. Our ancestors achieve aharmonious living way during the process of adapting to nature and changing nature,which can be felt from the traditional ancient villages that currently are relatively wellpreserved. A large number of humanity morphology and spatial objects preserved andaccumulated during all the years are the best materials for us to study the history of theenvironment. In this work, the study object is just the ancient villages in the Nanxi RiverBasin which is of hundreds years of development history. The reason why we choose theregion is that it has some characteristics that are different from other ancient villages and ithas a relatively independent and enclosed cultural circle. From the studied villages, thestrict overall planning, abundant space hierarchy, rustic buildings, reasonable spatial scale,delicate user-friendly features, and rich cultural background et al. are worth further study.In this work, formation of the morphology and space of the ancient villages in theregion was analyzed from the perspective of the interaction between man and the villageenvironment. Meanwhile, field investigation was conducted to understand the effect of theformation and development of the villages in the history on the human behaviors and themeaning of built environment to human. Also, the environmental assessment survey of thepublic space was conducted for the residents of the villages and the aesthetic value of theancient villages were assessed to supply idea sources for the contemporary residentialspace design. Finally, practical and feasible strategies were put forward for the protectionand development currently faced by the ancient villages.
