Research On Public Space Optimization Of Tangchang Ancient Town In Sichuan Province Based On User’s Leisure Behavior Demand

As the carrier of the history and culture of China,the historical ancient town is the concentrated embodiment of the regional history and culture,known as the living treasure of Chinese folk,with great protection and research value.At present,due to the backward economic construction and the low quality of ancient town spaces,some historical ancient towns in China cannot meet the needs of residents.There is a contradiction between the value inheritance of ancient town space and the needs of residents,which makes the space of ancient town worse.If this conflict cannot be solved in time,it will eventually lead to the decline of the historical value and characteristic spaces in the ancient town,also the loss of vitality,the town gradually annihilated by time.Therefore,how to optimize the protection of historic towns based on the needs of users is an urgent problem.The thesis takes TangChang Town,a typical ancient town with a profound history and culture but is relatively lacking in historical features today as the research object.TangChang Town is located in the Pidu District of Chengdu,relatively backward in urban construction.It is hoped that through this research,the quality of public spaces in TangChang ancient town will be improved,the leisure activities of residents will be well guided,the community interactions will be promoted,the material basis for the future development of tourism industry in the ancient town will be established,the social and economic development of the ancient town will be facilitated,and the ancient town willbe "reborn".This thesis classifies the public space in the core reserve of TangChang ancient town,studies the structure,function,and spatial form of each type of the public space,summarizes and sorts out the public space with historical value and characteristics.Besides,the leisure demand of the residents there,from the actual utilization rate,accessibility,service pressure,and comfort of the public space of the ancient town is also considered.According to the analysis results,combined with the status quo of the historic and characteristic public space of the ancient town,the reasonable optimization and transformation of the public spaces in the core protection area of TangChang ancient town are carried out.Firstly,this thesis investigates the current public space in TangChang ancient town core reserve.Using the methods of historical drawing comparison,investigation,and mapping.This paper studies the spatial functional division and overall spatial pattern of the ancient town,analyzes the specific elements of public space in TangChang ancient town from the historical value,function and spatial form,and then summarizes the public space with the spatial characteristics and protection value in the core protection area of the ancient town for later analysis and optimization.In order to understand the real needs for the leisure of the residents,the methods applied are on-the-spot observation,questionnaire,and interview,include the use time,frequently visited places,and satisfaction of ancient town residents’ public space.And analyze the leisure behavior of residents of different genders and ages in the public space,the characteristics,and demands(place demand,traffic demand,activity demand,comfort demand).In order to study the specific contradiction between the public space and the leisure behavior demand of residents in TangChang ancient town,this paper analyzes the actual utilization rate,accessibility,service pressure and comfort of the public space of ancient town based on the analysis methods such as data statistics and space syntax.And find out that the public space that can not meet the leisure behavior demands of the residents,which lays the foundation of optimization and transformation in TangChang ancient town.Based on the research on the current situation of the public space,thecharacteristics and needs of the leisure behavior of the residents,and the analysis of the public space considering the needs of the leisure behavior of residents,it can be concluded that the public space of TangChang ancient town has historical value,and the space itself has certain characteristics,which is worth protecting.However,some public spaces have some problems,such as low utilization rate,unbalanced space service distribution,poor accessibility,and low space comfort,which can not meet the needs of residents’ leisure behavior.According to the analysis and conclusion,combining with the status quo of the historic and characteristic public space of the ancient town,the thesis puts forward the transformation strategy of the overall pattern protection and local adjustment of the public space of TangChang ancient town to optimizes the local public space.Besides,categorize the key spaces in the public space of the core protection area,and selects the representative streets and lanes with historical or characteristic problems in each level of public space or node to carry out the transformation in an effective and real way.
