Application Study On The Material Of Public Architecture Interior Signage System

The study origins from a national standard drafting project of Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute, in which our college cooperates with other universities and sign companies across the country to draft the technical regulation and standard for signage materials.As a fundamental support of every object, material plays a crucial role in every industry in our daily life. The mushroom growth of sign industry provided a huge space for designers in choosing materials, which not only met the needs of all kinds of customers but also made significant impact on the cost and budget, as well as the structure and construction of signage system.The current technical regulation in our country lays more importance on the layout of a sign. There’s still a vacancy in technical regulation on the field of sign material, sign construction and maintenance, while in practical there is an urgent need for a technical regulation or standard to direct and supervise the implement of a project not only in China but also throughout the world.The thesis mainly concentrates on the basic materials in signage system, and will give a deep research on common materials that are used in public architecture interior signage system, discuss the advantage and disadvantage of every common material, analysis their characteristic as well as draft fundamental principles and general requirements. Before the fabrication of the signage system, the designers have to draft the deepen drawings according to the specification,which includes surface quality, finish and all the necessary technical parameter This thesis will direct but will not limit designers and companies in choosing proper material so as to express their design idea accurately, and will help develop sign industry, make signage system an important and elegant part of public buildings to serve better in our daily life.
