In order to assessing the power and the effect of damage in the weapons test such asvelocity and coordinate of firearms and artillery projectiles, velocity, coordinate and volumeof warhead fractions and projectile shape in the molding process of explosively formedprojectile EFP, it often need to test high speed flying target parameters such as speed,coordinate, volume, mass and shape, etc. Laser screen testing technology based on photodiodearrays gets more and more attention in the field because of high test precision, stronganti-interference ability and cost-effective.Laser target based on photodiode arrays regards laser as the light source, generates lightscreen by the beam shaping and uses photodiode arrays to make photoelectric detection.District cross intersection screen is used to build the photoelectric sensor module and FPGA isused to make intensive parallel high speed data acquisition and storage. Data communicationand data processing with host computer is essential for the reliability and test accuracy ofsystem.On the research of laser target principle based on photodiode arrays, this paper analyzesthe data format collected and stored by lower machine, studies the processing algorithms suchas movement speed, spatial coordinate, volume size and three-dimensional reconstruction ofhigh speed flying targets and designs the data communication and data processing system bysoftware program with LabVIEW virtual instrument. The correctness of algorithm is verifiedthrough simulation and actual experiments.The main jobs of the paper are as follows:1. It determines the overall design of data communication and data processing systembased on the photodiode array laser screen’s design principle and overall composition,including data communication between the upper and lower computers, coordinate calculation, speed calculation, volume estimation and3D reconstruction.2. It programs for FT245RL chip’s USB interface using VISA function module inLabVIEW to complete the data transmission between the upper and lower computer.3. It designs coordinate calculation module, speed calculation module, volumeestimation module and three-dimensional reconstruction module based on photodiode arrayusing LabVIEW.4. It verifies data transmission’s correctness through experiment and verifies feasibilityof coordinate calculation, speed calculation, volume estimation and3D reconstruction bysimulating the experimental data of objects flying through laser screen and experiment.
