In recent years, with construction of technology demonstration carbon port harbor intensified, ports extensively use the latest technology of two-way inverter or transform ordinary transducers (with energy feedback unit) to give feedback to the regenerative braking energy produced in handing equipment motor’s deceleration, braking or putting down heavy load with potential energy to grid, which effectively reduce energy waste and improve the level of handling equipment’s power-saving operation. Otherwise Energy feedback units use power electronic technology, which would impact on grid power quality, especially the harmonics during the work process. On the other hand, the countercurrent’s active power gives feedback to grid directly, which will change the active power flow, and exacerbate the active shock of port distribution system, then may affect the safety and stability of the port’s distribution system. Therefore, this paper studied evaluation of port handling equipment transducers’characteristics, analyzed the energy feedback device status and power quality status and power quality in grid by simulation and experimental data. First, it could study and apply the evaluation method for power feedback equipment’s power-saving level. Second, it will analyze the grid power quality problems possibly caused by energy feedback device connecting to the grid to ensure a reliable and stable power grid and energy feedback device. The main contents of this paper include the following aspects.(1)Explicit the meaning of this study, and analyzed port handling mechanical converter characteristics and the type of port energy feedback, Then analyzed different forms of the energy feedback devices connection to the grid. To provided basis for the following work for evaluation method of port handling mechanical converter device’s characteristics.(2)According to types of a port energy feedback device and forms of connection to the grid, it used Matlab/Simulink simulation platform to built evaluation simulation model of inverter performance, and gives a simulation study for energy feedback device and the main harmonic loss with different power electronic devices, switching frequencies and connecting methods to provide the necessary theoretical basis for research work of port handling machinery drives characteristic evaluation technology, verifying the correctness of the different types of port handling machinery drives characteristics theory.(3)It researched the evaluation method for the port handling machinery electrical characteristics and characteristics of the mechanical transducer energy feedback, which give the port handling machinery drives electrical characteristics assessment standards, methods to calculate limits and evaluation methods. It selected the typical topology of energy feedback devices by feedback device types and connection form of a port energy feedback device to give a practical case analysis, getting the problems of energy quality caused and the economic benefits of electricity saving operation while different types of energy feedback device connected to the grid.
