Since the21st century, a mass of long-term urban rail network has been planned, most of which are under constructing and gradually coming into use, and our country’s metropolises have stepped into a new era with rail transit developing at a very much high speed. With its exclusive advantage of massive capacity, low energy-consuming, high efficiency and environmental friendliness, urban rail transit enjoys quite an important role in the metropolitan public transportation system. However, owing to complex structure, dense passenger flow and limited spare space, urban rail transit system can be enormously impacted by daily operational breakdown, natural disasters, man-made sabotage, and magnificent events, which can lead to regional congestions or even standstill. This thesis researches on the emergency coordinating mechanism between urban rail transit and feeder buses through the aspects as followed:Firstly, the thesis describes the current situation of urban rail transit construction and operation in major cities of China. From the respects of unban rail transit emergency organizing methods, coordinating transfer and emergency-response system constructing, this thesis concluded the current research findings from home and abroad, coming up with the magnificence of research on the emergency coordinating mechanism between urban rail transit and feeder buses.Secondly, the concept of emergency is proposed, which is elaborated from event features, classification, emergency causes and grading. Based on different levels of grading, probable influences that emergencies may cause are expounded. In addition, features of commuters’distribution are analyzed according to different types of emergencies such as outburst of passenger flow, interruption of operation, and breakdown of surface transportation.Thirdly, graph theory and complex network theory are introduced and current solutions towards emergencies are concluded as adjusting rail-train operation and starting out cooperative emergency bus routes. And ideas of integrated emergency response between rail transit and buses are proposed, based on the former analysis. According to the passenger flow analysis mentioned above, different emergency organization methods are further studied under three conditions of outburst of passenger flow, interruption of operation, and breakdown of surface transportation. In addition, the thesis establishes an equivalent network model consisting of rail transit and shuttle bus lines, as well as a feasible path generation model. And an algorithm combining Dijkstra with Deletion algorithm is designed to solve the models above. Also, the feasibility of the newly-designed algorithm is verified through a case study with the use of Matlab. Finally, the thesis puts forward that rail transit emergency system consists of emergency warning system, emergency defending system, emergency pre-planning system and emergency organization system by studying advanced cases abroad. And also, it studies coordinated operation of vehicle scheduling and between rail traffic demands and capacity, coming up with a coordinated mechanism between urban rail transit and surface transportation.
