As an important part of integrated transport system, rail-water intermodal transport is the main form of container transport. Rail-water intermodal transport workflow directly affects the speed of delivery of containerized cargo. It is of great importance that studying container processes, identifing existing problems in the workflow of container rail-water intermodal transport, then to optimize workflow based on BPR theory and the corresponding optimization method.Firstly, this paper analyzed the rail-water intermodal transport operation system, then clarified the basic operation mechanism of rail-water intermodal transport, analyzed components of rail-water intermodal transport. Then, it analyzed the operation departments involved, and their respective responsibilities of rail-water intermodal transport.Secondly, on the basis of classification of containers goods, rail-water intermodal transport workflows were studied, including:foreign trade import containers workflow, foreign trade export containers workflow, domestic import containers workflow, domestic export container workflow. These four types of container workflows are analyzed to identify the weak links in the workflow, main problems are as following:(1) there is no uniform work plan throughout rail-water intermodal transport;(2) lack of a unified information platform;(3) The operating departments do works too independently, and have no responsibility for other work process;(4) part of processes in the workflow which could be operated in parallel is not carried out in parallel;(5) some of convergence nodes of the workflow were not joint well, which cause cargo to wait unnecessarily.Then, this paper created an optimization model of container workflow based on MAS. The container transport system is divided into15agents, each agent communicates with each other, collaborates, to accomplish container transport tasks.Finally, simulation of Lianyun Port rail-water intermodal containers transport workflow based on AnyLogic simulation platform is carried out. In the end, this paper put forward optimization recommendations for rail-water intermodal containers transport workflow.
