With the development of modern logistics and multimodal transport, individual is aware of seeking convenient, fast and economical mode of transport increasingly, therefore, the rail-water intermodal transport has enjoyed the dominance among most customer. As to the development of the rail-water intermodal transport, it not only requires sufficient capacity to meet the rapid growth of goods, but also needs handing equipments configuration of efficient, economical and rational quantity, only in this way will the customer needs be met, the reduction of the loading and unloading operations cost and win-win will be achieved.Based on the summaries the existed research results of port handing system, this thesis analyzes some key problems in rail-water intermodal transport of handing system further, mainly includes:1. Qualitative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages and quantitative analysis of the relevant technical parameters of various handing equipments;2. Analysis of the mode and characteristic of rail-water intermodal transport, analysis of the features and processes of handing system;3. Selection of loading and unloading process and equipments;4. Analysis of the relevant factors and principle of railway and water transport, handing equipments configuration;5. Establishment of the number configuration model of handing equipments.Other than the analysis of the key problems,based on the study of the configuration principle and method of handing equipments from the railway container and port station. This thesis, mostly, establish the number configuration model of handing equipments taking into account of the following aspects.Firstly, establishment of the multiple objective programming number configuration model of handing equipments based on the mode of "railway-water" straight loading and unloading, considering the operation cost of crane, together with which of ships queuing time.Secondly, analysis of the number configuration of handing equipments, based on the mode of "railway-yard-water". The paper analyses the number configuration of the crane, the gratry crane and the yard truck deeply for the number configuration model of devices, the object is to complete the tasks to greatest extent with smaller the operation costs. This paper establishes the number configuration model of crane, gratry crane, yard truck, concurrently, which will be solved by target constraint method, evaluation function method and LINGO9.0.At last, an example was set up to test and verify validity of the models in this thesis, the data used in the example comes from Lian yun Port of some international Container Company.
