With increasing urbanization, more and more discrepancies appear among different Urban microenvironments, which are shown as frequent unfavorable conditions, such as Light Pollution, Heat Island Effect, Local Strong Breeze, etc. The microenvironment in medical buildings areas is closely related to doctor-patients’ health, and it is an important indicator for modern hospitals. Besides, the physical environment quality of buildings is dominant in the microenvironment evaluation. The inpatient department, which takes40%of the whole hospital area, is very crucial. It is the place where patients stay the longest time. Hospital buildings are getting renovation and expansion constantly with the development of economy, society and medical industry, but a lot of problems arise at the same time. Problems within the inpatient department are mostly related to physical environment, like Sunshine Duration Insufficiency, Oversize Shadow Region in Winter, Ground Strong Breeze/Natural Ventilation Insufficiency, or Noise Pollution, etc.The physical environment around the inpatient department is a key part of hospitalization, and it ensures the doctor-patients’mental/physical health by providing patients a very good outdoor rest environment, which is the premise of indoor physical environment quality. A good physical environment could provide doctors as well as patients with a relatively stable and comfortable outdoor space, which helps them adjust mood, and approach nature. Meanwhile, it helps the Indoor Sunshine Acquisition, Winter Windproofing, Summer Ventilation, and Noise Control, etc.In recent years, physical environment issues are getting more and more attention from society, but mostly get focused on residential areas and at a city level. There is still a lack of studies of hospital inpatient department form layout and relationships with its physical environment, which await related researchers to point out problems for the constructors. I have researched into these questions, and list them as follows:Chapter one is the Introduction. It states the background information, purposes, meanings, domestic/overseas current situation of this study, and it defines the study content and related approaches used in this article, and it sets the article study framework as well.Chapter two is Studies on Related Theories. Firstly, it defines the object of study in this article, states the concept of relevant buildings physical environments, and elaborates respectively that the inpatient department’s physical environment factors that affect the users. Secondly, it lists all possible key points of design out of theories and documentational studies. Finally, it concludes the criteria of inpatient department outdoor physical environment which exist within national relevant standards, and apply it as the base-point of preliminary data comparison.Chapter three is to find out the factors that affect the inpatient department physical environment form layout by simulation analysis based on the data collected from several different hospitals in Beijing that the author has visited. Special analysis of the simulation of sunshine environment, wind environment, and sound environment.Chapter four is to summarize the law of inpatient department outdoor physical environment, and acquires the relevant controlling strategies and optimizing approaches, based on the previous simulation analysis and domestic/overseas top hospitals’ inpatient department outdoor physical environmental design cases. At last,it is to optimize the design for the sample hospital, using the summarized strategies and approaches, then make analysis through comparison of optimized simulation results and the original simulation results.
