The variation of container shipping market depends on supply and demand, which means the overall scale of the global container fleet and quantity of shipping container. The rapid development of container line transportation relies on feeder transportation, which is the extension and supplement of feeder transportation, because the hub port of feeder and various and scattered feed port will be tightly connected by feeders. Full use of shipping ability with sufficient freight source, the economic benefit obtained by large container vessels, the demand of feeder transportation increased.In2008, Zhuhai established the development strategy of To thrive the city by relying on the port, based on the development of port construction and Zhuhai Gaolan Port as the driving power of the city, Zhuhai Port Holdings presented the Xijiang River strategy and initiated the Xijiang River Port Union in2009, and united11cities along the river as well as15ports, providing the convenient and efficient logistics channel for economic development. Zhuhai Port Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. as the subsidiary company of Zhuhai Port Holdings purchased more container vessels for Xijiang River operation, whose feeder lines strongly promoted the provincial domestic trade container lines launched from Gaolan Port to inland. Meanwhile, Zhuhai Port Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. had a great development in provincial domestic trade container lines, and the Zhuhai Port Holdings proposed the requirement of how to lower the operation cost and enhance the service efficiency toward Zhuhai Port Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd.This essay combines lines optimization theory with Xijiang River feeder operating environment and characteristics of Zhuhai Port Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. building feeder transportation optimization models, and uses rolling operation method and voyage string theory model as explanation, providing the complementary support towards optimization Xijiang River feeder lines for Zhuhai Port Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd.
