This paper addresses, with the trend of the container ship enlargement and the port playing a transfer role, a problem of how to choose the right route model of the container shipment. Taking the example of Northeast Asia to the U.S. west coast ports, it had fund the basic structural model and the core structure model's profits equilibrium transition point.After more than half a century, the container liner shipping seized the general cargo shipping market because of its advantages. In order to reduce the unit cost of transportation, to achieve economies of scale in container shipping, shipping companies began to built larger container ships. Large container ships have also promoted the development of the port modernization and development of deep water, the role of container transit port became important, Since then, basic port mode transferred to a new container shipping network, Hub and Spoke. Due to there is no criterion about this problem has been reached so far, decision maker always make the choose according to the experience or the tradition, so it is essential that design a optimal route and lower the shipping cost to shipping company.This paper discusses the birth of container transportation in the world, development status and future development trends. Then address the two kind of container shipping route model-basic port route model and hub port rout model, main Influencing factors, their advantages and disadvantages. After assaying the cost of shipment, I set up a optimization model respectively, and the objective function is maximum profit of unit time per TEU, and optimize fitting related function. Finally, it make a numerical experimentation of northeast Asia-US West Coast container line transportation, and introduce a notion that the profit equality point of route model after analysis the experimental result. The profit of route shall be at the point of balance between two structural models used under the operation of the route, the profit is the same, and that a reasonable choice for the liner route structure model of great significance.
