With the fast development of the worldwide economy, to meet the increasing demand of the power energy, modern power systems are developed rapidly characterized by the high-voltage, the large quantitative capacity, the large-scale spreading of area and the long-distance transmission. Thyristor controlled phase shifter transformer(TCPST) one of the most powerful FACTS devices, provides powerful capability of regulating power flow, depressing the power losses and generation costs of the transmission line, improving the stability of the AC transmission systems of power system. By reviewing the published literatures about the TCPST, this thesis aims to investigate the performance of the TCPST by both the digital simulation as well as the experimental tests. The main work done by this thesis is as follows:Firstly, this paper describes the basic principles of thyristor controlled phase shifter transformer, classify the topology of the existing TCPST, and analyze the strengths and weaknesses. On this basis, this paper propose a new mixed TCPST, which composed by thyristor controlled module and AC-AC inverter controlled module. This paper gives the analysis of the advantages of this structure, and the topology of this two model.Secondly, determine the design method of each parameter of the new mixed TCPST. Analysis the control scheme module of thyristor controlled module and AC-AC inverter controlled module, and analysis of design parameters of PI regulator. Study on the control scheme of the new mixed TCPST to regulate power flow, and analysis of design parameters of PI regulator.Thirdly, the system simulation model of the new mixed TCPST is set up In the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, including the simulation modeling of main circuit, pulse trigger circuit and control circuit. Based on this model, this paper analyzes the power flow regulative performance in stable responses. The simulative results validate the validity of mathematical model and control strategy.
