Study On The Riverside Greenway Planning And Design

Urban waterfront area is the origin of the vast majority of cities and the urban’s most vibrant space. The development and construction of this area has gotten much more attention. Various metropolises of the world hope to achieve the urban renaissance by the development of waterfront area, and research scholars have been actively seeking for the develop strategies and direction of it over the past few years. Since the1990s,"greenway movement" has been rapid rised in the world, which set off the boom of green space planning for the purpose of ecology, restoration and protection. Greenway has became a research hotspot of the Landscape Ecology, Urban Planning and Landscape Design, Conservation Biology, Landscape Architecture and so on. Also the concept provides a strong theoretical basis for the planning and construction of urban waterfront space. The progress and achievements in related fields have been combed on the basis of literature research and field research, which helped to draw a more systematic scientific theory support system of riverside greenway planning and design in interdisciplinary studies. Through the analysis of domestic and foreign cases of riverside greenway, the accurate and appropriate development positioning and planning and design elements of riverside greenway have been proposed, then guiding the planning and construction of Shaying riverside greenway, and put forward the important function of scientific and rational plant planning and design to the orderly operation of riverside greenway. The main findings were as follows:1. The research results related to the development and construction of urban river areas were systematically studied and summarized. Different disciplines theories related to the planning and design of riverside greenway were gotted, such as Greenway, River Corridor Protection, River Restoration, Landscape Ecology, Landscape Architecture and Urban Waterfront Development and Construction. the research scope of riverfront greenway were defined In the cross-disciplinary field.the constructed elements of riverside greenway were refined and the theoretical supports of planning and design of riverside greenway were gotted.2. Learned from the successful experience in building riverfront greenway at home and abroad and proposed the scientific and rational overall framework and the corresponding points of the planning and design of riverfront greenway. Based on concise the successful experience of construction of riverside greenway abroad, the research object called Dongguan history and culture riverside greenway was choosed as the typical and representative case through the characteristic analyses of finished greenways in The Pearl River Delta Region. The experience and lack of integration of resources, use of resources, line selection and construction of the riverside greenway in Dongguan were systematically analyzed and summarized.3. Theory guiding practice; The hydrological characteristics and requirements of urban development of Zhoukou were combed. The planning and design pattern of Shaying riverside greenway was putted forward based on preliminary theoretical research and the summary and analyses of practical experiencethe, which can achieve goals of ecological conservation,resource integration and the development needs of history. The important role of plants in aspects of river ecological protection and restoration and the maintenance of zonal characteristics were emphasized. All those were putted forward to guide the building of riverside greenways of other cities, which had functions of ecological conservation, history development and local characteristic protection.
