Water resources is the important foundation for human survival and social sustainable development. Water resources can be updated through the natural water cycle. With the development of human society, urban original natural landscape and drainage system changed. This change has affected the water cycle process, therefore, a series of water problems arise. How to reasonably use the rain water become our key to solve the problem of water environment. In the early1970s, some developed countries have begun to research on urban rainwater utilization. Now we are faced with the similar problem that the developed countries once faced in the past, so we can extract from the worldwide advanced rainwater management ideas, and make scientific strategies suited to China’s national conditions. The paper introduced the Low Impact Development (Low Impact Development, LID) rainwater management technology and its application in Beijing.By researching related literature at home and abroad, firstly, the author introduced the present situation of water environment, and summarized the current international advanced stormwater management strategies in the world system. And then explains the LID technical theory system, and mainly introduced the LID site design method (LID site planning) and LID integrated management practice (LID-IMPS), hoping that the paper can provide some theoretical support when it is used in the domestic. In addition, by taking relevant cases for example, this paper introduces the LID typical applications in three different space types:urban building space、 urban resistant space, urban road space. Finally the author shows part of the present situation of LID technology application in Beijing, through an investigation and put forward some improvement Suggestions, hoping to provide certain reference to LID practice in other parts of the country.
