Sacrificial ceremonies are one of the academy’s three major functions. In thedevelopment process of academy, the sacrifical ceremony founction of some academies hasbeen strengthened by adding much architecture for sacrifice, and eventually became thesacrificial type academies. This process was closely connected with the development ofConfucianism. Nishan Academy is well known as the largest academy of existing ConfucianAcademy which has its unique historical and cultural value.By analyzing the relevant literature of Nishan Academy, combined with investigation anddata collection, the data of the development history of the ancient Chinese education system,the generation and development of the sacrificial type academies, and the historical place ofConfucian Academy as well as its distribution were concluded. In view of the history process,characteristics of the siting, layout and sacrifice space, systematic research for NishanAcademy was conducted to highlight the practical value and cultural connotation. Betterexvacation about the architectural value of Nishan Academy is expected to provide richerresearch result for Qufu inscription expansion project.
