Automotive dashboard, as one of the most important automobile’s part, is directly related to people’s safety and property with its integrated performance; meanwhile, auto industry has become china’s pillar industry, so in order to improve the quality of auto product, guarantee the safety of road traffic, the development of china’s automobile industry requires that manufacturers of automobile parts must undergo strict quality testing on each product. Automotive dashboard provides basic guarantee for driver about vehicle information and safe driving (the message), so automobile cluster’s performance test has become an important vehicle performance testing.Based on automobile cluster’s characteristics, this paper developed a complete set of CAN bus online testing system of automobile cluster. According to automobile cluster’s working features, its functional aspects and economic factors, we determine its operating parameters which should be collected. Signal acquisition sources of the system are from three aspects: First, external sensor signals and Signal acquisition for twice instrument; Second, dynamic signals of cluster’s alarm light and stepper motors from CAN bus; Third, cluster status information by image acquisition equipment.The hardware of automobile cluster CAN bus testing system, takes industrial control computer as a core processing hardware, mixture of the external interface circuit, signal conditioning circuit, image acquisition equipment and sensors. The acquisition of CAN signal is completed by USB interface and CAN card, with precision cylinder as the test system fixture’s implementation. To enhance the integration of communications equipment, we also develop RS232-TTL voltage conversion circuit boards based on the chip and sending and receiving PWM frequency signal plate. A complete online testing program is formed by networking technology to achieve the long-distance data transmission of test system.And our software is based on the two mature technology software platforms, which are popular LabVIEW graphical programming language and Visual Basic 6.0 programming environment developed by Microsoft. Two unique software platforms could meet the needs of the majority users. The difficulty of automobile instrument line test system design are how to realize real-time communications between PC and instrument on testing process, how to make sending and receiving signals simultaneously with the test system, proper disposing and judging image documents acquired, online measurement and statistics specific parameters on special time, to test remote login and data transmission of system, analysis and statistics storage parameters after measurement.The system can realize digital signal and analog signal acquisition, image processing, image recognition by CAN instructions communication protocol and the communication of PWM frequency signals, so it can meet the current test system’s requirements of various models of cars instrument combinations with a broader scope of application in the leading level. I have participated in several cooperation projects with the world’s leading auto parts manufacturers and have implemented several large-scale cooperation projects. After the system is put into production and is used in Yanfeng Visteon, Johnson Control, Delphi technology companies and Siemens VDO, it has been approved that the system performance is stabile, anti-interference capability is good, sampling frequency and accuracy is high, with a friendly interface and easy to operate for users, all of which has fully embodies the advantages of on-line testing system. It has created a total value of over one billion Yuan after putting into production. So the system has good value of promotion and good prospects of application.
