In order to promote health management of Platycladus orientalis Plantation in Xuzhou, theauthor established the Forest Health Assessment Indicator System based on consulting a largenumber of literature, expert advices and in accordance with the actual situation of Platycladusorientalis Plantation in study area. By focusing on the three aspects of structural integrity, system stability and service sustainability, the author selected10indicators, included communityvertical structure, canopy density, per unit area of stock, forest regeneration, the grade of forestpests, forest fire danger rating, degree of interference, leaf area index, water-holding capacity ofsoli and the thickness of the litter, to evaluate Platycladus orientalis forest health.According to health assessment indicator System of Platycladus orientalis Plantation inXuzhou, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy mathematics method, anddividing the forest health into five classes: high quality, health, sub-health, ill-health and disease,60typical sample polts was evaluated by sample plot survey and existing related data. The resultsshows that, high quality sample plots accounting for5%, health sample plots accounting for15%,sub-health sample plots accounting for43.33%, unhealthy sample plots accounting for30%,disease sample plots accounting for6.67%of the total sample plots.Based on the study, theproportion of sub-health sample plots is the largest and unhealthy sample plots is the second, itillustrates that the overall health grade of Platycladus orientalis Plantation is sub-health inXuzhou.By the analysis of forest health assessment indicator System of Platycladus orientalisPlantation in Xuzhou, it shows that the four indicators which affects its health extent largest areforest regeneration, per unit area of stock, community vertical structure and water-holdingcapacity of soli.In order to improve the health of Platycladus orientalis Plantation in Xuzhou, the authorsuggests increasing the amount and species of understory woody, replanting some seedlings ofbroad-leaved tree species such as Koelreuteria paniculata, Sapium sebiferum, Black Locust, Acerbuergerianum, and some Shrub species such as Ligustrum quihoui, Vitex negundo and Lespedezabicolor; thinning the larger density sample plots to promoting the growth of understory woodyand changing forest structure; designing forest gap to promoting the natural regeneration ofplantation.
