In recent years, with the increasing demand of domestic timber, and importation, our country has become the world’s largest timber importer. While, with the geographical and mature management advantages, Jiangsu has gained rapid development, and has become the largest distribution center for maritime timber imports and imported large quantities of various types of timbers each year. However, these large quantities timbers from all around the world can easily carry all types of pests, which bring some problems and stresses to us. Based on the analysis of the history and actuality of the timber importation of the Jiangsu ports, and the captured pests, the paper sorts out in detail of the timber importing data, timber business structure, and the problems in the timber importing in recent years to provide reference for the sustainable development of the timber importation. At the same time, based on concluding the past work systematically, the task starts from solving the real problems of the current imported timber inspection and quarantine, investigates and collects the intercepted pests types and data of the imported timber in Jiangsu ports, through the experts’Identification, the molecular characterization classification and other ways to give them correct definition, and summarizes the information of different types of43species of termites,136bark beetles,100longicorns, and the Bostrichidae, Platypodidae, snails and other harmful species from different countries, to provide reference for the quarantine and identification.
