Recently, the outbreaks of epizootic diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, mad cow disease and avian influenza, caused not only large economic losses, but also severely threaten and affect to human health. With the spread of epizootic diseases such as avian influenza in the world, people pay more attention to epizootic diseases. Some study revealed that the epizootic diseases are exceeding human diseases in the extent of injury and outbreak frequency, and there were 38 kinds of animal diseases transmited to human beings during last 25 years. According to a statistics, 70% highly pathogenic diseases to humams are zoonosis. There were at least 160 kinds of epizootic diseases had transmitted to human by 1980s, and among 1470 human pathogens, 58% of them orgined from animals.A system of animal epidemic survey and data analyzing was constructed by using of the method of software engineering, technique of componet programming, knowledge on epidemiologic survey, biostatisitcs and bioinfomatics and .Net platform in C# program language. The studies have been explored including the following aspects:1.The functions of sample size estimating, sample size distributing and sampling survey data analyzing have been realized by combining the theory of sampling survey and the method of biostatics in the system. The realization of these functions can make the course of sampling survey according with the need of statistics, and that also have very important meaning to do sampling survey scientifically.2.Through the requirement analysis for animal epidemic data analyzing, three major analysis methods were integrated into the system, which are descriptive statistics, significance test and analysis of variance for different data type respectively. By using of these methods, researchers can expose the connotative information from animal epidemic data, find the risk factors of animal diseases outbreak and spread, at the same time these methods can make the research results have statistical meaning.3.A function for analyzing amino acid sequences according the theory of entropy was developed in the system, which can be used to perform molecular epidemiological analysis to animal pathogens on the basis of the conservations in their protein sequences. It supplies a new tool for epizootiological research and the results can supply theoretical evidence to define the origin and evolution of pathogens. 4.Combining ADO.NET and component technology on .NET platform, the system can support many kinds of data sources and convert the data to figure. Based on the diagram setting up functions of Microsoft Office Web Components, researchers can draw 58 kinds of diagrams in 10 groups. This funtions can describe the characteristic of animal epidemic data directly and change the abstract data into much more vivid forms, so that the data can be understood easily. Thematic mapping funtion, based on MapxTreme2004 and secondary development technique of components GIS, can combine animal epidemic data and spatial data together to make the spread map expediently. The application of GIS in the field of animal epidemiological study supplies a more convenient way for exploring the spatial distribution characteristic of animal diseases, and which makes it possible for the further performing of spatial statistical analysis. The study and construction of this system supplies a strong tool for researching on epizootiology, which also has important practical value on the application of new technology in animal epidemic research.
