As we know, tractor is one kind of agricultural machine which has the variety of operation function. Nowadays, on one hand the tractor requirement must meet the functional requirements; on the other hand bring enough comfort. Therefore, it’s necessary to do research on tractor cab design based on ergonomics to improve the comfort of the tractor cab.This paper mainly do ergonomics study on tractor cab design based on manikin according to the data of the "Huang Hai Jin Ma1204" type tractor cab.(1) This paper introduces the basic principles of ergonomics. Created the Chinese population document program according to GB10000-88((Human Dimensions of Chinese Adults)) and build the Chinese tractor drivers’manikin with the tool "Human Builder" in CATIA V5.(2) Analyzed the shortcomings of the sample tractor cab, that is, H point position and the dimension of the control equipments are not reasonable. Redesigned the H point position according to GB/T6235-2004《Agricultural tractors-Operator’s Seating Accommodation-Dimension》and SAE recommended practice SAE J1517. Recalculated the dimension of the control equipments according to the operational areas. Build3-D model of the improved tractor cab in ProE.(3) Studied the sitting posture comfort of the improved tractor cab with the tool "Posture Analysis" in CATIA V5according to the comfortable angle range of human’s sitting posture. Build the preferred angles of manikin’s neck, eyes, thorax, lumbar vertebra, arm, forearm, leg and thigh in CATIA V5. Then generated the general and separate sitting posture comfort report of the8human parts when the manikin was working under the normal sitting posture in tractor cab. Evaluated the manikin in different load, different assignments frequencies and found in static and repeat stances hand muscle most easily fatigue, the bigger load the early fatigue. Analyzed the driving posture of biomechanics, and it will get the report of the biomechanics for the different posture, including L4-L5 spine limit and joint moment strength data. The data can provide reference to the design of the seat angle, seat back angle, H point position, dimension of the steering wheel and so on.This paper mainly do research on tractor cab design based on ergonomics in CATIAV5with the created Chinese tractor driver manikin, which can provide reference to the further study in this area, improve the design speed and reduce the tractor design cost, optimize the tractor cab internal structure, improve the maneuverability and ride comfort.
