Analysis Of Farmer Selection Behaviors Of Rice Cropping System In Hunan Province

The food security issue is a key objective in China’s agricultural policy system，Hunan is China’spaddy rice main production area, its rice cropping systems selecting behaviors were related to foodsecurity of China.Taking cropping systems selecting of rice as the study subject，this paper analyzes riceproduction areas and study of contemporary course of development of the farming systems in Hunanwere described in the present paper. The policy oriented farming system change was profiledsystematically, the rice cropping system was analyzed comparatively, the reason of poor production wasstudied,and researching on regional farmers to analyze the cooked choice behavior and willingness.The main conclusions were as follows:1. Hunan is suitable for double-rice cropping cultivation for that superior natural resources. Withthe higher agricultural production conditions, Xiangbei rice main area should develop the intensive andindustrial agriculture to build rice commodity base. The urban and suburban agriculture should bedeveloped because Xiangzhong rice main production areas are closely linked with the city and industryand commerce back to feeding agriculture obviously. Xiangnan rice main production areas are suitablefor development of export-oriented agriculture because of closing the coastal provinces, though itsagricultural production conditions are poor.2. Contemporary Hunan pprovince farming system is driven significantly by policy, agriculture,science and technology, and socio-economic, and experienced eight periods: recovery adjustment, slowdevelopment, rapid development, reform and development, steady development, structural adjustment,recovery and development.3. Hunan rice cropping system selection was analyzed that the positive policy guidance to mobilizethe enthusiasm of farmers to grow grain, to promote growth in double cropping rice area. doublecropping rice production area, unit yield, total yield and profit of Hunan province in2011wererespectively14.6%，69.02%，98%and52.7%higher than that of single cropping rice, ecologicalfunctions much better than the single cropping of rice, Hunan should give priority to the development ofthe double cropping of rice to ensure food security.4. Double cropping rice theoretical yield and production test levels were respectively58.7%and100%higher than that of single cropping rice. Rice yield can be narrowed by farmers own efforts andraising the level of agricultural science and technology and the total rice production should be increasedby increasing yield cropping index.5. Double cropping rice was mainly planted in Xiangbei,Xiangnan and Xiangzhong rice mainproduction areas. The reason that selecting the double cropping rice is the policy of helping andmechanization promotion labor saving and earns more case income. Presently the subsidies effective arewaning and the trend that changing the double cropping rice to single cropping rice is obvious. Spaceand the intensity of support for agricultural policy should be broadening and the position of agricultureas the foundation should be strengthened to improve the proportion of double-crop rice planting, and toprotect national food security.
