Study On Feasibility And Suggestions For Cultivation Of Upland Rice In Yong Feng, Ji’an

The area of Ji’an in Jiang xi province has more hilly and mountain areas, these areas is relativelylack of water resources,which has restricted the local agricultural production and hind the improvementof the local peasants income and living standards. How to explore the existing arable land resources forcultivation under the current condition to ensure the stability of farmers’ life and production in front ofthe great catastrophe, are critical issues for government and scholars to solve.The proposed project will focus on following researches based problems and requirementsmentioned above:(1) Importance to plant the upland rice, including the requirements for the localdrought situation and drought-resistant assurance and needs of Yong Feng Xian production;(2)Feasibility analysis for the planting on upland rice in the mountain areas, through argumentation andanalysis from the aspects of theory and practice, the feasibility of upland rice in it region is to promote;(3)A survey and investigation of local rural residents for willness of planting upland rice followed bydata collection and analysis, according to gender, age, culture level, job (work in industry or agriculture),the income and the proportion, agricultural labor per year, net income per mu, knowledge about uplandrice, planting upland rice or not, etc（For the farmers,these factors have influence behavior change). Bygrowing willingness correlation analysis to find out which variables and willingness of farmers plantingcloser together in order to achieve the "right" results.Through the argumentation and analysis, we can determine that planting upland rice in the regionlacking irrigation is feasible and worth to grow. From the questionnaire, we found that, agriculturalincome and its ratio, knowledge of upland rice and upland rice planting have stronger relevance,especially the proportion of agricultural income, and knowledge of upland rice have the completecorrelation with the intentions to plant upland rice, Age, cultural level, labors engaged in agriculturealso has a certain correlation. Considering the existing problems in the local areas and factors closelyaffecting the intentions for farmers to plant upland rice according to the questionnaire, we must putforward the corresponding strategies and suggestions, especially needs to grasp and adjust measures tolocal conditions in the promotion process, the strategy of vary from person to person, targeted forpublicity and promotion, at the same time also need relevant government leadership and agriculturalextension technical personnel’s attention and joint efforts, better let farmers accept upland rice andupland rice planting.
