Antler Deer farming is an important part of the national economy with greatsocial and ecological benefits. Chinese Antler Deer indusity is limited by the lowproduction performance of Chinese sika deer. Economic crossbreeding plays aninportant role in animal production performance improving. This study used theartificial insemination techniques to produce the hybrids of Tianshan wapiti Deer andChinese sika deer. Production performance of hybrids was also measured andanalysed. These may improve the production performance of Chinese sika deer andmaintain the competitive advantages to take a good position at international markets. The results show that the conception rate of artificial insemination is mainlyaffected by the insemination method, time, frequency and body condition. Hybrids(F1)of Chinese sika deer(♀) which improved by Tianshan wapiti Deer(♂)has betterprofmence in all of three (HuaMaF1、MaHuaF1and HuaMaHuaF2). HuaMaF1hasthe better profromance in growing. The body weight, body length and chestcircumference of HuaMaF1are nearly the same as adult Chinese sika deer when theyare at the age of14months and finally reach the200-250kg body weight.Break-peachtime of hybrids is also earlier than their parents. The hybrids has more regenerationantler production and good antler type. The average antler weight from initial angle tothree saw is3.79kg. Antler types of hybrid generation F1was divided into the sikatype (72%), the wapiti type (8%) and the middle type, the sika velve type was72%,the wapiti (20%). The antler economic income of HuaMaF1is¥3272.2, which hasbeen increased to9.51times as compared with Chinese sika deer and9.48times asTianshan wapiti Deer. Besides these, additional techniques including dystociaprevention, fawn artificial feeding, hybrid fawn ablactation and early supplementalfeeding would improve the production performance effectively.
