| The city square is not only plays an important role in the outdoor communication and daily communication, also play a decisive role position in city landscape. Square is a city of the living room, has an important role in the city square.Along with the development of the society, people to low carbon, environmental protection and ecological consciousness is becoming more and more attention, improve city square plant landscape, the urban environment is also gradually attention to in the morning, simple planting trees, flowers and plants to meet the spiritual needs of the people in the plant landscape. Therefore, study on the square of the landscape plants is very necessary.This paper takes Xiangtan Jinyuan square, Dongfanghong square, Furongxincheng square, Square in front of the library of Hunan University of Science and Technology as main research area,through field investigation, questionnaire survey and literature consult, AHP method, the plant landscape of application situation of Xiangtan city square were investigated and analyzed. The main results are as follows:(1) this paper through the statistical analysis on the species of garden plant:a total of46, a total of34families,43genera, including Rosaceae, Pinaceae, Oleaceae occupies an important position, the3families10species accounted for43.5%, also on the colorful leaf plants, ornamental plants, ornamental fruit plants the statistical view, branch plant, results show that the color-leafed plants using the highest is Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum, flowering plants is the largest use of Rhododendron, camellia, view, view fruit plant branches less.(2) The analysis of the main plant landscape pattern community of4square at the entrance, the central square area, leisure area, the results showed the better in autumn and winter spring and summer square landscape, landscape depression. Were evaluated using the AHP method of plants in Xiangtan City Square, the diversity of life structure diversity, ornamental characteristics of diversity, comprehensive scoring Jinyuan square, Dongfanghong square, Furongxincheng square, Square in front of the library of Hunan University of Science and Technology were8.5,7.13,8.83,7.39.(3) The plant space in Xiangtan City Square landscape diversity is not enough, the lack of the ornamental fruit, plants, landscape is not rich, the maintenance work is not in place, lack of shade trees to square such problems, put forward Xiangtan City plant design principles and increase, square colorful ornamental fruit, vegetable, establish a professional the maintenance team, rich landscape types suggest.(4) Put forward some suitable for square, central square at the entrance area and leisure area square plant distribution pattern:.Cinnamomum camphora (L.)
