Because of the increasingly requirement for modern urban construction and urbangreen ecological environment construction, the demand for ornamental trees alsobecome increased. And the tree transplanting has frequently become a kind of technicalmeasures in landscaping and national afforestation project, therefore the means forimproving ornamental trees’ survival rate after transplanting is particularly important.Temperature is one of the important restricting factors to plants’ growth, and lowtemperature will produce adverse effect on plants’ growth. Thus, to study the frosthardiness (FH) in transplanting plants can provide a reference for introduction andafforestation work. In this paper, three common ornamental trees, that is Magnoliadenudata, Salix matsudana and Sabina chinensis, were used, which were treated bydifferent concentrations of ABT rooting powder and Super-absorbent polymer (SAP).The concentrations of ABT were0mg.kg-1and150mg·kg-1, and those of SAP were0g,70g,100g,130g and160g. In the present experiment, the increment measurement andelectrolyte leakage (EL) for measuring plants’ FH were adopted to estimate trees’phenological phase, net growth and FH after transplanting. The aim was to providepractical experience for landscaping and afforestation project, and to improve thesurvival rate after transplanting. The main results showed that:1. The concentration150mg·kg-1of ABT for Magnolia denudata and Salixmatsudana after transplanting was suitable. The best concentration of SAP for Sabinachinensis was100g.2. Applying ABT to Magnolia denudata could improve phenological phaseobviously. Applying it to Salix matsudana could improve leafing stage obviously, butothers were not. Applying SAP to Sabina chinensis, the change of phenological phasewas not obvious, so further research should be done.3. The increment in Magnolia denudata and Salix matsudana and theconcentrations of ABT was positively related. The concentration150mg·kg-1of ABTcould promote the growth of Magnolia denudata and Salix matsudana. The incrementof Sabina chinensis was correlated to the concentrations of SAP. In a certainconcentration range, Sabina chinensis’ increment and the concentration of SAP were positively related. In the present experiment, the effect was obvious when theconcentrations of SAP were70g,100g and130g, however,100g was the best.4. The soil water content and concentration of SAP was positively related.Application of SAP could improve soil water content and the efficiency of waterapplication, thereby reducing irrigation times and waste of water, and saving manpower, material resources and financial resources.5. The FH of Sabina chinensis was related to soil water content after transplanting. The level of FH showed in an order of100g>130g>160g>70g≥0g.6. ABT and SAP could increase the FH of Magnolia denudata, Salix matsudanaand Sabina chinensis.7. The phenological phase, net growth and FH of Magnolia denudata, Salixmatsudana and Sabina chinensis could be used as the judgment indicators for survivalrate after transplanting.8. ABT and SAP could improve the survival rate of Magnolia denudata, Salixmatsudana and Sabina chinensis after transplanting. They could be applied widely inlandscaping and afforestation, especially in arid regions.
