Kiwifruit pruning management is one of the key links in high-yield cultivation, directlyaffecting the aeration and sunlight penetration, yield and quality of area per unit of the tree, and the different pruning methods have the different influence degree. Therefore, the researchof reasonable pruning method is the key research content of kiwifruit pruning. In order tostudy the most suitable pruning methods and provide technical basis to production practice of‘Huayou’ kiwifruit that is the excellent medium maturity variety popularized of Shannxi inrecent years. From2011to2012, effect of different winter and summer pruning methods on‘Huayou’ kiwifruit was studied respectively in the kiwifruit production area Town Qinghua,Meixian. In this study, by combining field tests, field investigations and determination,full-scale statistics, consulting documents and papers with quantitative and comparativeanalysis, according to investigated and determined the effects of different winter and summerpruning methods on germination rate, new vine development, flowering, fruiting and fruitquality in ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit, also added up, compared, analyzed and summarized the testdata. The results showed that:1. Effect of different winter pruning methods on new vine development and fruiting inkiwifruitFirst: The cutting back was helpful to stimulate the ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit germinate, andgermination rate could be increased, but it’s almost no effect on vining rate.Second: The fruiting number, fruiting rate, fruit weight and yield per plant of ‘Huayou’kiwifruit could be increased significantly by the gently placed.Third: The appearance quality could be increased and improved significantly, also thecommodity rate could be increased by the gently placed in ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit.Fourth: The gently placed in ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit could effectively inhibit the decrease offlesh firmness and increase of soluble solids content, significantly delaying the softening andripening of fruit, thus increasing it’s storability and internal quality.Fifth: The combined effect of the gently placed is significantly better than cutting back inwinter pruning of ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit. Sixth: The gently placed should be selected first, and the cutting back shouldn’t aspossible in winter pruning to ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit. Certainly, in the manufacture of kiwifruit,we can adopt the method which is dominated by gently placed and collocation of appropriatecutting back to pruning the ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit in winter.2. Effect of different summer pruning methods on new vine development and fruiting inkiwifruitFirst: The kneading tip could significantly impel the flowering vine growth as a fruitingvine, thus increasing the ratio of fruiting vine number and flowering vine number.Second: The fruiting number, fruiting rate, fruit weight and yield per plant of ‘Huayou’kiwifruit could be increased significantly by the kneading tip in summer.Third: The kneading tip in ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit could significantly increase and improvethe fruit appearance quality, it also could effectively inhibit the decrease of flesh firmness andincrease of soluble solids content, significantly delaying the softening and ripening of fruit, thus increasing it’s storability and internal quality.Fourth: The combined effect order is kneading tip, keeping8to10leaves, keeping5to7leaves and keeping2to4leaves in summer pruning of ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit.Fifth: The kneading tip should be selected first, secondly, keeping8to10leaves andkeeping5to7leaves could be used, and be sure not to use the keeping2to4leaves aspossible in summer pruning of ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit. Certainly, in the manufacture of kiwifruit,we can adopt the method which is dominated by kneading tip, and collocation of keeping8to10leaves and keeping5to7leaves to pruning the ‘Huayou’ kiwifruit in summer.
