This paper was devoted to study the early supplement of lambs and mutton quality of different stages of weight in Tan sheep by feeding trial and slaughter experiment to determine the lamb feeding level of early supplementary, technology of early weaning and the quality traits of fattening lamb postweaning, and provide the scientific basis for the scientific and reasonable early feeding lambs and best slaughter of weaning fattening lambs.Experiment1:Studies on the early feeding and weaning technology of Tan sheep lamb.68Tan sheep lambs with healthy, parity and birth weight similarity were choosed and divided into4groups randomly. Each group was17lambs (9males and8female lambs). The control group fed by ewes, had no supplementary feeding. Group I, group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ were test groups. The test groups were supplemented with pellet food from10days age.Protein levels were15%,18%and21%. Metabolic energy levels were11.40MJ/kg,13.68MJ/kg,15.96MJ/kg.The lambs were weaned at17kg.The results show that the daily gain of early supplementation groups were higher than the control group, and achieved a higher economic benefit. The daily gain of the group Ⅱ was significantly higher than those of group I and group Ⅲ (P<0.01) and weaning time was the shortest among three test groups and control group. The lambs body size were not significant among the groups(P>0.05). So, lamb early supplementary feeding was advantageous to lamb growth. The best nutrition levels of lamb for supplementary were protein18%, metabolic energy13.68MJ/kg.The daily gain reached212.0g/d, weaning time was shortened to58d.Experiment2:Studies on meat quality and appropriate slaughter weight of weaned Tan Lamb.33weaned ram lambs with healthy body, weight was17kg, were selected and stabled feeding. The trial was designed with single factor experimental and weight as experimental factor. The slaughter weights were17kg、22kg、27kg、32kg、34kg、36kg、38kg、40kg、42kg、44kg and46kg, total of11slaughter weight stage.3lambs were slaughtered in each stage. The experiment mainly studied on the meat quality of fattening lamb, determined the optimal slaughter weight according to the meat quality index. The results show that the lambs growed fastly, had high economic benefit and rate of carcass meat, big in eye muscle area and good in color at34kg-36kg comprehensived production performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality. The water holding capacity of lamb meat is good, and high in cooked meat rate, protein content, intramuscular fat content and rich in juiciness at36kg-38kg. The flavor of fresh meat began to change from the weight of34kg-36kg, the hydrogen, hydrocarbon and sulphide played a major role in the mutton flavor. In conclusion, the best slaughter weight of fattening Tan sheep is34kg-36kg.
