Located in arid and semi-arid transition zone between cropping area and nomadic area of north China, the Erdos mines Region covers an area of61thousands sq.km and contains rich coal resources. The over loaded coal and mining industry in recent years led to environment deterioration, available land drop sharply and the land surface vegetation cover decline day by day. However, existing vegetation restoration techniques at this time failed to fit the local ecological environment and could not benefit the environment, economy and social at the same time. We chose Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao to recover the land surface vegetation, which was one of the local dominant medicinal plant. A seedling and planting test was conducted for a year period. With planting Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao to recover the land surface vegetation, we aimed to benefit the economy sustainably and not to cause secondary damage.The experiment analysis of seed quality indicators from different seeds, which including purity、rate of emergence、thousand grain weight、moisture、other seed proportion and parasite rate. It can be used identify the standard method of Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao selection. The experiment use four main seed treatment methods for seedling cultivation, which find the suitable method of seed treatment for mines. In Yijinhuoluo mining at Ordos we do a year of seedling cultivation field experiment. we used Orthogonal test choosing sowing time、 fertilizer rate、seed types、covering soil thickness、Land type as the factors. According to the rate of seedling emergence, heights and diameter, we summarize seedling cultivation techniques of Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao in Ordos mines Region. The result shows:(1)The purity、rate of emergence、thousand grain weight and moisture have a significant effect on seed quality. Because all of water contents conform to the standard of seed safe moisture content, the suitable reference index for selection are purity、rate of emergence and thousand grain weight.(2)Compared to the warm water soaking seeds and boiled water soaking seeds, mechanical treatment and Chemical reagent treatment can increase rate of emergence, reduce rate of spoilage seed. The seed from Baotou region which is processed by chemical reagent has the largest emergence rate, is92.67%. On the contrary, seed from Dingxi region which is processed by warm water soaking has the smallest emergence rate, is59.67%. Seed spoil rate from Dingxi region using warm soaking is it’s from Chifeng region using mechanical treatment15times.(3)The most suitable water content for the seed from Chifeng、Datong、Baotou regions to germinate was15%, the rates respectively were76.00%、62.67%、76.67%. Whether encountered with drought or over moist environments, seed germination would be resulted in decreased. The most suitable sand burial depth of Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao from Chifeng, Datong, Dingxi and Baotou were1.0cm,0.5cm,1.0cm,0.5cm respectively.(4) Sowing time, fertilizer rate and covering soil thickness are main factors in the seedling cultivation in field. By the experiment results can be obtained some relatively good breeding techniques:sowing time after May15, planting soil nutrients without applying fertilizers, covering soil thickness is about1cm.
