Background and Objective: Erythroderma is a kind of systematic and generaldisease, often caused by a variety of reasons. It is a severe skin disease, skin andmultiple organs are involved. Although clinical diagnosis is not difficult, it’s importantto search causes actively. Different causes of erythroderma due to different treatmentand prognosis. The prognosis of erythroderma often depends on the nature of theprimary disease, complications and if the treatment is positive, correct and reasonable.In recent years, mortality has been greatly reduced with the progress of level ofdiagnosis and treatment and enhancement of recognition, although there is highermortality before. The future work would focus on reducing the incidence and mortality.The causes, treatments and outcome of erythroderma patients were mainly discussed inthis paper.Methods: To analyse the clinical data of60cases with erythrodermaretrospectively, who were collected inpatients from January2008to December2011inDepartment of Dermatology, Second affiliated hospital of dalian medical university.Results: Among the60cases with erythroderma,42cases were secondary to otherskin diseases,12cases were caused by drug hypersensitivity,2cases were caused bytumor, and4cases were unknown aetiology. Due to different causes, treatments werealso different. For the cases secondary to eczema or dermatitis, anti-anaphylaxis andimmunological regulation were administrated. Glucocorticoid was used when patient’scondition was severe; For the cases secondary to psoriasis, the administration were oralAcitretin Capsules and Tripterygium Glycosides; For the cases caused by drughypersensitivity, sensitized drugs were stopped using, administrated byglucocorticoid;For the cases accompanied by tumor, operation, chemotherapy orradiation therapy were choosed according to patient’s condition;For cases of unknownaetiology,.the therapy was the same to the cases secondary to eczema or dermatitis. After treatments, the number of recovery, excellence, improvement and inefficacy were34,20,5and1respectively.Conclusions: Different causes of erythroderma due to different treatments andprognosis. It would be conducive to guide treatment to search causes actively.
