Objectives To analyze the changes of hepatic histology in patients with chronichepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, and discuss the factors affecting the change of liverhistology.Methods129CHB patients who had percutaneous liver biopsies were included in thisstudy, collecting from March2010to August2011in the first affiliated hospital ofAnhui Medical College. Liver biopsies were performed under ultrasound guiding andhistological grade(G) and stage(S) were evaluated. The correlations were assessedbetween liver tissue pathologic and ALT level, HBeAg status, HBV DNA serum level, ages and sex.Results1. Of129patients with chronic HBV infection, there were80(62.0%),43(33.3%),3(2.3%) and3(2.3%) cases belong to G1, G2, G3and G4respectively,11(8.5%),50(38.8%),39(30.2) and l3(10.1%) cases belong to S1, S2, S3and S4respectively.2. There were significant statistical differences in the liver inflammationand fibrosis among the normal ALT group(ALT<1×ULN), the moderately elevated ALTgroup(1×ULN≤ALT <2×ULN), the significantly elevated ALT group(ALT≥2×ULN).3.In ALT<2×ULN group, there were significant statistical differences in the liverinflammation and fibrosis between age<35years old and age≥35years oldgroup(χ~2=10.71, P<0.05; χ~2=8.93, P<0.05), but in ALT≥2×ULN group, there was nostatistically significant difference between the two age groups.4.The HBV DNA level,HBeAg status or sex have no correlation with the degree of liver inflammation and fibrosis. Conclusions State of HBeAg and HBV DNA levels cant’t accuratly react lesions in theliver tissue of chronic HBV infection, chronic HBV patients’ ALT, age level can be usedas a reference index of the degree of the lesions of the patients, but cant’t only rely onserum biochemical indicators to react level lesions. Liver biopsy should be consideredin chronic HBV infection patients with ALT<2×ULN, especially the older ones.
