Objective: To investigate the expression of IL-17, VEGF in esophageal squamous cellcarcinomas(ESCC) patients, and analyze the differentiation of expression, and therelationship between them and the clinical significance. Methods: Immunohistochemistrywas used to detect IL-17, VEGF expression in the normal epithelial tissue of esophagealmucosa and cancer tissue and detect CD34labeled micrangium and analyze therelationships with clinical pathological features and tumor angiogenesis. Results: Thepositive expressions of IL-17and VEGF were detected in73cases ESCC were79.5%and60.3%,which were significantly higher than normal epithelial tissue (P<0.05). Thepositive expression of IL-17was related with the TNM staging、MVD and lymph nodemetastasis(P<0.05),but not with the postoperative metastasis. The positive expression ofVEGF was related with the lymph node metastasis、MVD、TNM staging and postoperativemetastasis. They were not correlated to nationality, age, sex, and differentiation. Thesurvival rate was different between ESCC tissues with positive and negative IL-17, VEGFexpression (P<0.05). Conclusion: IL-17, VEGF may play important roles in ESCCinvasion and metastasis. Over expression of IL-17and VEGF could act as references toevaluate unfavorable prognosis of ESCC.
