Forsythia suspensa,the air-dried fruit of Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Oleaceae),is a common tradition chinese medicine recorded in Chinese Pharmacopeia. Green forsythia is harvested in autumn when the fruit ripening is in initial period and with green color. After removing impurities,steamed and dried,it can be used. When the fruit ripened,it is called "Old Forsythia"after removing impurities and dried.Currently, Chinese Pharmacopeia has no individual quality standards of Green forsythia,resulting in no laws to follow and affecting the quality of Green forsythia decotion pieces. At same time,the quality of Green Forsythia is influenced by the harvest period,altitude,geographic and styles type.It’s necessary to establish a comprehensive and controllabled quality standards in order to control the quality and protect the safety and efficiency of traditional chinese medicine.In this study,we carried out an initial research about the quality standards and reasonable harvest time of Green Forsythia by using certain technical means.1. Study on the quality standard for Green Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Taihang)The study is divided into4chapters to discuss quality standard of Green forsythiae (Taihang) on the basis of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010) and Traditional medicine standard in Shanxi(1987).The main content is as follows:1.1Study on identification for Green Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Taihang)The study includes character identification,microscopic identification and TLC identification. Character identification described the traits of Green forsythiae based on the original standard and experiment with herbs traits and according to the requirements of quality standard research techniques about chinese medicine in Shanxi. Microscopic identification described the cross section and seed of Green forsythia (Taihang),by paraffin method.The TLC determined an experimental methods to indentify Forsythoside A and Forsythin simultaneously.The method have good specificity, repeatability and durability according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010).1.2Study on checking and the extract for Green Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Taihang)Checking includes impurities, moisture, and total ash. The impurities check must not exceed2.0%according to the method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010) appendix Ⅸ A. The moisture checking must not exceed4.8%according to the method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010) appendix Ⅸ H. The total ash checking must not exceed4.0%according to the method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010) appendix Ⅸ K. The extract checking must not be less than30.0%according to the method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010) appendix Ⅹ A.1.3Study on the finger printing for Green Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Taihang)In order to grasp the quality on the whole,the study proposed to add the finger printing to quality standard of Green forsythia (Taihang) in order to control the quality on the whole. The mobile phase was composed of methanol and0.3%acetic acid aqueous. The flow rate was1.0ml/min with UV detected at235nm.The column temperature was maintained at25℃. The similarities were calculated and proved more than0.90with the help of the similarity calculation software of fingerprint chromatography of traditional Chinese medicine by the determination of the Green forsythia(Taihang). This method with good characteristics and specificity can be used in the quality control of Green forsythia (Taihang)1.4Study on content determination for Green Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Taihang)The study established a new method of quality evaluation and feasibility validation by the simultaneous quantitative assay of Forsythoside A and Forsythin.The content of Forsythoside A must not be less than4.40%and The content of Forsythin must not be less than0.23%.2Study on the dynamic accumulation of the chemical constituents in Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl.In the chapter,we analyzed the main peak area of the chemical composition,the total number of peaks and the similarity.At the same time,we also made a preliminary study about one hundred dried fruit weight and antibacterial effects of forsythia. Through the above research,we drawed conclusions that September is the best harvest period for forsythia.3Study on quality evaluation of Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl in different geographic environment.In the chapter,we analyzed the main peak area of the chemical composition,the total number of peaks and the similarity to research quality evaluation of forsythia in different geographic environment.At the same time,we also made a preliminary study about one hundred dried fruit weight and antibacterial effects of Fructus forsythiae. Through the above research,we drawed conclusions that the quality of sunny slope is superior to shady slope, and the forsythia maturity is gradually postponed with increasing altitude.4Study on quality evaluation of Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl in different styles.In the chapter,we analyzed the main peak area of the chemical composition,the total number of peaks and the similarity to Research quality evaluation of forsythia in different styles. At the same time,we also made a preliminary study about one hundred dried fruit weight and antibacterial effects of forsythia. Through the above research,we drawed conclusions that it is little difference between different styles.
